EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - In his 12th NBA season, Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Sam Cassell -- known to basketball fans for his relatively unique appearance -- finally scored his first ever basketball groupie. Cassell, 35, reportedly met and hooked up with Passaic, New Jersey resident and basketball fan Brenda Molloy during a Timberwolves road trip last week.

"Now I finally feel like a real NBA player," said Cassell. "The championships I won in Houston, the All-Star Game I got to play in last year, the time I got arrested outside that strip club in Toronto... those were all great moments, but, I never really felt like I belonged in the NBA fraternity until now."

Molloy said that while she and Cassell had what she described as a "nice" time, he Cassell seemed "nervous and edgy" during their encounter. "He didn't really... I mean, we didn't quite, um, go through with it, necessarily," Molloy said. "He seemed nice enough, though, even if I'm not sure I want to see him again."

Cassell, for his part, seemed eager to get together with Molloy as soon as the Timberwolves go back to the east coast. "She told me she had a great time, and that she really wanted to see me again," Cassell said. "But she didn't know when it would be, since she's going to have to go to Iceland on a business trip. Which is weird, because when we first met she told me she worked at Applebee's. I called the number she gave me to try and straighten everything out, but it was just the number of some auto body shop. I guess maybe she works there too."
