RAPID CITY, SD - Sources close to the family of New England Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri reported this week that Vinatieri's mother Judy has been reminding everyone that, technically, her son just kicked his third Super Bowl-winning field goal in four seasons.

Against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Vinatieri, whose last-minute kicks in Super Bowls XXXVI and XXXVIII broke ties and gave the Patriots their first and second NFL titles, kicked a 22-yarder with almost nine minutes left to give the Patriots a 24-14 lead in a game they eventually won 24-21. "See? Adam's kick made the difference again," Judy Vinatieri said. "Just because it wasn't right at the end of the game doesn't mean it wasn't a game-winning field goal."

"We love Judy and [Vinatieri's father] Paul," said Marge Hindracker, a longtime friend of the Vinatieris, "but we do hear an awful lot about what their son is doing. I mean yes, technically, he made another Super Bowl-winning field goal, and we're awfully proud of him, but, well... my Travis just made swing shift manager at Kinko's, and you don't hear me blabbing about that all over town."

"This was a definite team effort," said Vinatieri following the game. "Yeah, sure, my field goal was the difference in the score, but it was just a 22-yard chip shot that pretty much any NFL kicker could have made. You hear that, Mom? Leave people alone! You're embarrassing me!"
