Husband Convinces Wife "Along Came Polly" Looks Good, She Sees It, He Watches Playoffs in Peace

SILVER SPRING, MD - NFL fan and husband Paul Yardley, 33, successfully convinced his wife that the Ben Stiller-Jennifer Aniston comedy "Along Came Polly," which opened this weekend to dismal reviews, looked good. Yardley's plan came to fruition Sunday evening when wife Jenna, 29, and her friend Bonnie went to see the movie and have dinner afterward, leaving Yardley to watch the weekend's NFL playoff games in peace.

"I couldn't believe she bought it," Yardley said of his wife. "I figured it was worth a shot, because I know she loves 'Friends,' and she always said she thought Ben Stiller was cute. Still, with those commercials they showed... honest to God, a blind ferret? That's what passes for comedy these days, a blind ferret? But, she and Bonnie fell for it."

"Oh, it was okay, I guess," Jenna Yardley said following the 3:30 pm screening of "Along Came Polly" at the Loews Wheaton Plaza in nearby Wheaton, MD. "I was surprised that Paul thought it looked so good though. He kept saying how the cast was really great, with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Alec Baldwin, and how he heard from someone at work who saw a preview screening that it was just hilarious. Too bad he had so much stuff to do today. He suggested I take Bonnie, though, and he gave us a bunch of money to go out shopping and go to dinner afterwards. It was so sweet of him."

"I don't like to blow my own horn," husband Paul said, "but this plan really just worked to perfection. Now if I can only think of some way to trick her into seeing 'Miracle' with me next month. U-S-A! U-S-A!"
