EDEN PRAIRIE, MN - The Minnesota Vikings made several moves this off-season to shore up a once-dominant defense that has ranked in the bottom third of the NFL for each of the last four years. Despite key free agent signings, though, the 2003 Vikings will still suck.

"We're really excited about adding [former Lions linebacker] Chris Claiborne," Vikings coach Mike Tice said this week. "He'll really strengthen that unit, with [Greg] Biekert and [Henri] Crockett right there with him. Or course, we'll still be bad."

The Vikings also re-signed defensive end Lance Johnstone and added former Packers lineman Billy Lyon and Broncos cornerback Denard Walker. None of those players will help the Vikings much, and the team will again miss the playoffs this season.
